In Hawaii we were twelve hours behind Johannesburg. First leg to Seattle we caught up 2 hours and by the time we reached Washington 5 hours. We will catch up a further 7 hours by the time we reach Johannesburg – a total of 12-hours. The potential for jet-lag is at an unprecedented level in our travel experience.
Our plan for jet-lag aversion is to hydrate adequately, fall asleep immediately the plane takes off, eat no supper, drink no alcohol, awake for breakfast, eat heartily, watch movies, plan the outstanding blogs, and remain awake until landing in South Africa in the evening. We’ll stay awake, catch up with family and fall asleep by nine or ten pm. A good plan and it worked – more or less.
