Aloha. Whew, a long day of travelling ahead of us. Isabella
has prepared a delicious breakfast of Kona coffee, perfect pawpaw, grated
pineapple, sweet and gentle, no acidity at all, with yoghurt and soft warm
banana breads. We will miss this young family from Brazil – Isabella, Ulysses,
and six-month old Melyssa, who are managing the Volcano Inn for the owners in
their absence. It’s set in a tranquil and fertile tropical garden where frog
sounds peep and chime throughout the day and night.
We travel from Volcano through morning traffic to Hilo for our flight onwards to Oahu.
We have so many flights ahead of us this week. It is a pity it isn’t a more relaxed closure to our trip, but we are happy we finished with Big Island which offers lots of contemplation for our future, digesting the effects of the 2018 eruption, basically the birth of new land. So odd to realize it like that! We need a rebirthing too – a simpler lifestyle, living lightly with less stress and more spontaneity. Lots to consider and lots of baggage to shed. (Who are you and what have you done with my wife?)
However, our discovery trip isn’t quite over yet as we
have a couple of days in Washington DC over Thanksgiving. We give thanks and
much more! Mahalo!
